19 Days

Nineteen more days until the first Milwaukee Show. Yesterday we posted about the very first show Rick did at the Potawatomi Casino. He did not perform there in 2001, but then in 2002, during one of his week long breaks from EFX, we got double our pleasure with two shows back to back. The first show was on March 6, 2002. The thing that stands out the most to me about that show was when Rick came out shirtless during the encore, he was sporting a band tattoo on his right arm. At that time Rick had the one hawk tattoo on his shoulder, and he had been quoted to say that he was going to be proof you could stop at one, so it was quite a shock to see the new one appear. We, of course, found out later that it was not real. (and as we know now, in 2004 Rick joined the community of people with multiple tattoos).
The set list from this show was as follows:
Affair of the Heart
itsalwaysomething
I've Done Everything For You
Fire
idontwantanythingfromyou
State of the Heart
Alyson
Just One Kiss
Rock of Life
Gloria
Inside Silvia
Kristina
Wild Thing
Don't Talk to Strangers
Human Touch
Jessie's Girl
Love is Alright Tonite
Living In Oz

Also, here is a review I wrote of the show back in 2002:

Rick had played this venue before on 11/15/00, so they knew what kind of show he put on and kind of knew what to expect from his fans. They seem to like him and put up with us (lol). The Entertainment Director came out before the show started and said that he heard that there were probably people in the audience from all 50 states. He then went on about how he knew that people would probably want to stand up but because every other row is a booth, it's really hard for the people in the booth to see or stand up, so to be aware of the people behind you. Everyone actually seemed to behave pretty well and respected everyone around.

When Rick got to the new song(idontwantanythingfromyou), apparently he changed the second line from "you try to heal but you crucify" to "you only want me when you're high". The new song ROCKS! You may have to let it sink in a bit, it may catch some off guard by how angry it sounds, but after the initial shock, you’ll really start to enjoy it. (interesting in regard to the "shock" description, this was before the cd title had been announced)

Later Rick asked the crowd what they were drinking because they seemed a little loose, so he said he'd do a loose song and went into Inside Silvia (we're not sure how that correlates but we go with it).

He was walking around the audience and he was standing behind the 4th row (booths), and someone mentioned it was their birthday, and Rick went into the whole routine of how everyone has a birthday, and asked how old he was. Then he proceeded to play Wild Thing while having one oh so lucky member of the audience straddle between his legs for a major portion of the song.

This is the concert where "Bathtub Gloria" was born. In the song, he mentions that Gloria is knocking on the door but he can't hear her because he's taking a bath. She comes into the bathroom, and she pulls the plug. She "reaches her hand deep into the water," between his legs, and pulls the plug. The water drains out and he gets cold, and then he sings "warm me up, baby warm me up". Very hot stuff!

At one point, someone had a sign asking him to flip Matty off, so he did. Then he started talking on phones, early, right before DTTS instead of during. Someone had a Scooby phone, and he told the person he was talking to "I don't want to tell you where I have my mouth". He also talked to someone from Australia and a 13 year old girl who he asked "why aren't you here, you could marry my son". Possibly a subtle comment on the fact "I'm old enough to be your DAD".

There was no IGE during this show. This may be the first time it’s been skipped in a very long time. At the end of the show, Rick said something about overstaying their welcome. They may have gone a little long on the set, then he said "see you tomorrow night, for those of you coming". Which if you think about it, that's pretty interesting. He knows us all too well.
