Worth the wait in Thackerville

Today ended up being a very long day for Rick Springfield. After a near landing in DFW, the pilot decided it wasn't a good idea, so the plane was diverted to Austin. After several hours on the runway, Rick and the guys got in a limo and were driven to Thackerville. Although the show was scheduled to start at 8:00, it didn't kick off until a little after 10.00. Enter Rick, wearing his glasses, a Winstar t-shirt and his travel khakis. Rick put on a very high energetic show. It was well worth the wait.

Here's hoping Rick and Matt and whoever else isn't feeling well are better by next week when they hit the road again. It's been rumored that Noah will make another appearance on General Hospital on Tuesday, February 20th, so stay tuned for that.

Love For Sahara Benefit Luncheon

The Love for Sahara Benefit Luncheon took place today in Atlantic City. Fans showed up from all different states, and a silent auction was held to raise money to help the Aldridge family in Sahara's battle with her tumor. Rick Springfield was in attendance and auctioned off his shirt he wore at the Nokia concert the night before. Rick answered a few questions and took group photos. Kudos to Helaine Fox and everyone involved in making the luncheon such a success.

New Release of Older RS Tunes

SonicPastMusic.com and Sound City Entertainment have been partners in one way or another for over thirty years; and with the amazing demos that Tom Skeeter and Jonas Gottfried invested in over the years as Carman Productions one might wonder what became of all the recordings? Well, after years of digging, listening and looking, SonicPast and Sound City have joined together to bring you more of this great music.

We will be releasing Rick Springfield’s early Sound City recording with Rick’s band before the Keith Olsen studio musicians were brought in. Many of these cuts appear on later releases but none are as authentic as these. You’re just not a fan without these beginning treasures.

Rick Springfield, yes a name that was on the lips of every girl from here to London will have a CD coming out with Rick and his original recording and performing band from the early seventies before the hits started for Rick. This is his album that later was re-recorded with new studio musicians by Joey Verra. These are the original tracks only from SPM. Songs like Bruce, Cold Feet and a big bonus track "Still Got Music." Stay tuned for the release date... soon to come.

VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of the 80s

100 Greatest Songs of the 80s
Feb 16th 9PM EST VH1 Classics

It was a time of Ronald Reagan and Rubik's Cube Miami Vice and Molly Ringwald, Jordache jeans and Joe Montana. But most of all, the 1980s were ten years of totally bitchin' music.

Join VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of the Eighties as we count down the coolest, gnarliest, most un-bogus songs of the decade that gave us hip-hop, hair metal and a funky little purple man named Prince. The five-part program will feature classics from `80s luminaries like Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Public Enemy, Journey, Guns N' Roses and Duran Duran.

Each tune's back story will be told through interviews with the musicians who created them, as well as the legendary artists they inspired. The show features new, original interviews with an unprecedented number of the decades greatest stars including The Bangles, Daryl McDaniels (Run-DMC), Deborah Gibson, Styx, INXS, Jane Wiedlin (The Go Gos), Colin Hay (Men at Work), Katrina and the Waves, Mike Mills (R.E.M.), Bananarama, Joe Perry (Aerosmith), ABC, Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Toni Basil, Bonnie Tyler, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Devo, The B-52s and more.

In the grand tradition of VH1's previous "100 Greatest" specials, like 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders and 100 Most Metal Moments, 100 Greatest Songs will also bring you up to date on what the decade's greatest stars are doing today, from U2 to the Eurythmics.

One Hit Wonder THIS...

Steve Peake's article on About.com about his Top 7 RS tunes is a must read for anyone who has to explain yet again to their friends and family that Rick Springfield is not a one hit wonder:
"I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of apologizing for digging much of the '80s output of Aussie heartthrob Rick Springfield. I’m not threatened by his empirical good looks, and I choose instead to focus on the fact that he was a consummate songwriter with a gift for melody who also knew his way intimately around rock guitar riffs. The songs on this list demonstrate without question Springfield’s significant contributions to '80s rock and pop, as all of them showcase pop confection melodies but none so sweet that the singer’s male bravado and rocking inclinations don’t provide an appropriate balance." More Noah on General Hospital

Noah Drake was back on General Hospital today - more operating, more bickering with Patrick, and more scenes than he's been in for a long time. No word on what the exact date of his next appearance is, but we've heard he will be the one operating on Robin, which is rumored to be February 20th.

Tickets for Borgata

The announcement originally was that they would go on sale at 10:00 am today, so it's possible the closer seats will be sold, so stay tuned.

Noah Operates on General Hospital

What a difference two days make. From a conversation of loving concern, back to arguing. But a bit of a swtich, Noah actually wins this argument, and Patrick runs the tests just as his dear Dad suggests. According to the previews, Noah will be on again Monday, February 5.

Rumor has it, that "Three" (the one stuck in the vault with Maxie) is Logon Drake, brother to Patrick (and assumingly, son to Noah?). It'll be interesting to see if those rumors are true, how that will all work out, and if it'll mean more screen time for Rick.

For recaps of all of Noah's appearances, be sure to check out the General Hospital Section on rickspringfield.us.
