Wasted in Wendover

And no, not the intoxicated kind. Rick Springfield played at the Peppermill Concert Hall in Wendover, NV last night and maybe the most noticable difference in last night's show was the addition of Wasted at the beginning of the encore. It was a very, very nice surprise indeed.
Another slight difference last night from recent shows was the reappearance of Gloria. When Gloria came "knocking", he was upstairs watching tv, and this is where this rendition took a bit of a different turn from previous versions. Gloria comes upstairs and hears "this weird tv show" coming from the bathroom....."Bobbie, damn it, I thought I told you to....I said back rub" (Rick recreating the tv show)........"She comes over and she turns the tv off....and now I'll never know what happened in those 3,000 storylines......that go absolutely f#cking nowhere......how many times can one girl get shot......you'll never believe what they are coming up with next in the next couple of months......it can only happen on a Soap Opera....."

Full set list - Who Killed Rock n Roll, Affair of the Heart, Alyson, I've Done Everything for You, Living in Oz, Rock of Life, Gloria, Red House, Don't Talk to Strangers, The Medley, Love Somebody, My Generation, Human Touch, Jessie's Girl, Wasted, Love is Alright Tonite.

Don't Blink!

22 days after his last and very brief appearance, Rick Springfield as Noah Drake is back. We've heard the expression "always leave them wanting more", but it's becoming ridiculous. You're barely over your excitement of seeing him on your screen and he's done for the day. It does look like the Chief of Staff storyline might be developing. Again, we understand that with Rick's touring, his appearances will be limited, but when he does show up, give him some screen time, for the love of Pete! (and I don't mean Patrick's friend Pete).

Did you hear the pin drop?

It's been really quiet lately in the world of Rick Springfield, but lots and lots of stuff is on the horizon. Apparently there is going to be another We Are the 80's tour this summer, with two more unofficial dates [so don't book your airfare yet] surfacing - 6/29 in Atlanta, GA at Chastain Amphitheater and 7/1 in Gilford, NH at the Meadowbrook Musical Arts Center.
Noah Drake is expected to make an appearance on General Hospital within the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned for that.
What was previously released as Beautiful Feelings, is set to be re-released on April 9, with the original music, instead of studio musicians.
Mission Magic is being released on DVD on May 8th and can be preordered right now.
More East Coast tour dates have been promised, according to Rob K on the official message board on www.rickspringfield.com.

Ostrich Festival not for the Birds

Rick Springfield played the Ostrich Festival in Chandler, AZ last night. The set list was as follows: Who Killed Rock N Roll, Will I, Living in Oz, I've Done Everything For You, Affair of the Heart, Kristina, Red House, Don't Talk to Strangers, The Medley, Love Somebody, My Generation, Human Touch, Jessie's Girl and the single encore song of Love is Alright Tonite.
A review of the show can be found on the Get Out website. This was a very nice review, but please note that Rick is not an actor turned musician, he was a musician long before he started acting.

VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of the 80's
100 Greatest Songs of the 80s 20-1
Sun, March 18th 8pm EST VH1

It was a time of Ronald Reagan and Rubik's Cube Miami Vice and Molly Ringwald, Jordache jeans and Joe Montana. But most of all, the 1980s were ten years of totally bitchin' music.
Join VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of the Eighties as we count down the coolest, gnarliest, most un-bogus songs of the decade that gave us hip-hop, hair metal and a funky little purple man named Prince. The five-part program will feature classics from `80s luminaries like Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Public Enemy, Journey, Guns N' Roses and Duran Duran.
Each tune's back story will be told through interviews with the musicians who created them, as well as the legendary artists they inspired. The show features new, original interviews with an unprecedented number of the decades greatest stars including The Bangles, Daryl McDaniels (Run-DMC), Deborah Gibson, Styx, INXS, Jane Wiedlin (The Go Gos), Colin Hay (Men at Work), Katrina and the Waves, Mike Mills (R.E.M.), Bananarama, Joe Perry (Aerosmith), ABC, Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Toni Basil, Bonnie Tyler, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Devo, The B-52s and more.
In the grand tradition of VH1's previous "100 Greatest" specials, like 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders and 100 Most Metal Moments, 100 Greatest Songs will also bring you up to date on what the decade's greatest stars are doing today, from U2 to the Eurythmics.
