Rick's Hopes and Dreams for the Future(Teen Beat, circa 1986)
Rick Springfield has been taking it easy lately and playing new roles other than actor and musician - as husband (he married girlfriend Barbara Porter in a secret wedding in Australia in 1984) and father (to a son, Liam James, born to Rick and Barbara last year on October 28th in Los Angeles). Rick met Barbara in 1980 at a recording studio where she worked as a secretary. Their relationship was on the skids, though, after only eight months. Rick was becoming a very popular star as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital and as a recording artist with a number-one single, "Jessie's Girl," from the gold LP Working Class Dog. Rick admitted at the time that his "working so hard just added too much strain" to the relationship. But the breakup didn't last long. By 1982 he was back with Barbara and keeping the romance out of the public eye. By then he knew what publicity could do to a rock star's relationships. His brief fling with actress Linda Blair received a lot of press, much of it bad.......
